Continuation Breakout Thursday 2PM 10/09/2025

October 9, 2025 4 min read

Overall Sector and Industry Analysis (EST window analyzed: 2025-10-09, roughly 10:00–14:00 ET, 30-minute bars; most names from 11:30–14:00)

  • Coverage skew: list is heavily tilted to small/mid-cap Biotech/Pharma, with some Materials/Energy, Tech, and Financials.
  • Breadth: mixed-to-weak overall, with risk-on pockets in selective biotech momentum and coal. Sellers controlled large caps and many tech/materials through midday.
  • Biotech/Pharma:

– Weak/pressure: CYTK, QURE, GLUE, CRVS, ADIL, ADVM, IOBT trended lower or bled into the afternoon.
– Pockets of strength: EPSM trend up with consistent higher highs; NGNE broke out above 31 with strong volume; CNTX had a volume-backed push to HOD; BDTX firmed into the close near highs; VTAK reclaimed range highs late; ABOS attempted a late push through 2.22; TARA stayed constructive in a tight range.

  • Materials/Energy:

– Coal/uranium mixed: METC reversed higher and closed near HOD (relative strength). LEU highly volatile with a midday flush then bounce; ALB (lithium) trended down; ASTL (steel) trended down.

  • Tech and related:

– RGTI saw very heavy volume but trended down intraday (possible oversold bounce candidate, but not a clean long yet). OSS faded. GSAT was choppy and failed to hold early highs.

  • Financials/Services:

– MCO faded intraday. PWM, HIFS, KPLT were quiet to soft.

  • Takeaway: Momentum leadership sits with selective small-cap biotech (EPSM, NGNE, CNTX, BDTX, VTAK, ABOS) and a materials outlier (METC). Broader tape showed net selling/mean reversion elsewhere, so focus on names closing strong with volume.

Ticker Performance Prediction (next 2–3 trading days)
Likely upside continuation candidates:

  • EPSM, CNTX, NGNE, METC, BDTX, VTAK

Strongest bullish signals now: EPSM (trend + higher highs, rising volume), NGNE (range expansion + volume), METC (reversal to HOD close), CNTX (breakout on a volume spike). BDTX and VTAK are constructive but more sensitive to liquidity.

Important note about data window

  • Only intraday slices from 2025-10-09 were provided. Without full 10–30 day history, I’m deriving levels from today’s intraday supply/demand structure and round-number pivots. Treat ATR-based targets as approximations from today’s realized range.

Individual Stock Analysis (30-minute perspective; 1–3 day swing plan)

EPSM

  • Supports: 36.22; 35.79; 35.50
  • Resistances: 37.10; 37.41; 37.58
  • Price action view (2–3 days): Bullish continuation favored if price opens/holds above 36.20–36.40. A strong first-hour hold above 37.10 can squeeze to 37.40–37.60. Failure to hold 36.20 likely retests 35.80/35.50 before another attempt.
  • Targets (1–3 days): 37.10, 37.58, stretch 38.20–38.40 (approx ATR extension)
  • Entry ideas: Pullback buy 36.20–36.40; add on reclaim/hold 37.10 with volume
  • Stop-loss: 35.70 (tight); 35.45 (swing)

CNTX

  • Supports: 1.31; 1.28; 1.26
  • Resistances: 1.3663; 1.38; 1.42
  • Price action view: Volume-backed push suggests follow-through if 1.31–1.32 holds. Over 1.37 can trend to 1.42. Loss of 1.28 likely fades to 1.26 and reload zone.
  • Targets: 1.37, 1.42, stretch 1.50
  • Entry ideas: 1.30–1.32 pullback; momentum add on 1.37+ with volume
  • Stop-loss: 1.27 (tight); 1.24 (swing)
  • finviz dynamic chart for CNTX

NGNE

  • Supports: 30.87; 30.15–30.20 zone; 29.65–29.75 zone
  • Resistances: 31.42; 32.23; 33.00
  • Price action view: Strong range expansion. Holding 30.9–31.2 should push 31.42 and re-test 32.23. Sustained closes above 32.23 open 33.00+. Loss of 30.87 likely backfills to 30.20.
  • Targets: 31.42, 32.23, stretch 33.00–34.00
  • Entry ideas: Buy 31.00–31.20 pullback to prior breakout; add on 31.42 reclaim/hold
  • Stop-loss: 30.45 (tight swing); 29.95 (deeper swing)
  • finviz dynamic chart for NGNE

METC

  • Supports: 46.20; 45.81; 45.51
  • Resistances: 46.46 (HOD); 47.00; 47.80
  • Price action view: Reversal day closing near highs is constructive. Above 46.20, look for 46.90–47.00 test; over 47 opens a 47.80 run. Lose 45.80 and the reversal thesis weakens.
  • Targets: 46.90, 47.80, stretch 48.50
  • Entry ideas: 46.00–46.20 pullback; momentum add on firm break/hold above 46.50–46.60
  • Stop-loss: 45.45 (beneath intraday demand)
  • finviz dynamic chart for METC

BDTX

  • Supports: 4.20; 4.17; 4.10
  • Resistances: 4.25; 4.35; 4.50
  • Price action view: Grind higher into the close; continuation if 4.20 holds. Break/hold above 4.25 can lift to 4.35. Illiquidity risk moderate; size accordingly.
  • Targets: 4.28–4.35, stretch 4.50
  • Entry ideas: 4.18–4.22 pullback; add through 4.25 with volume
  • Stop-loss: 4.08 (daily pivot risk)
  • finviz dynamic chart for BDTX

VTAK

  • Supports: 2.93; 2.90; 2.83–2.78 zone
  • Resistances: 3.00; 3.03–3.05; 3.20
  • Price action view: Late-session reclaim. Hold above 2.93–2.95 sets a 3.00–3.05 test; over 3.05 momentum can accelerate. Lose 2.90 and a flush to 2.83 is possible before base.
  • Targets: 3.03, 3.15, stretch 3.30
  • Entry ideas: 2.90–2.95 pullback; momentum add through 3.00 with follow-through
  • Stop-loss: 2.82
  • finviz dynamic chart for VTAK

Secondary watch (constructive but slightly lower confidence due to liquidity/noise)

ABOS

  • Supports: 2.18; 2.17; 2.16
  • Resistances: 2.22; 2.30; 2.45
  • Plan: Hold above 2.18 and clear 2.22 to target 2.30; stretch 2.45 on a high-volume day. Entry 2.17–2.19; stop 2.14.
  • finviz dynamic chart for ABOS

TARA

  • Supports: 5.33; 5.28; 5.27
  • Resistances: 5.45; 5.53; 5.70
  • Plan: Range compression; look for expansion above 5.45–5.53. Entry 5.33–5.40; stops 5.24–5.26. Targets 5.53, 5.70, stretch 6.00.

Risk management and execution notes

  • Broad tape showed selling pressure outside the momentum pockets; keep positions sized appropriately and favor buying near supports with clearly defined stops.
  • For thin names, use limit orders and avoid chasing breakouts without volume confirmation on the 30-minute bars.
  • Reassess if leaders (EPSM/NGNE/METC) fail to hold their first support bands after the open; that would signal momentum fatigue across the group.
