How are the Sentiments Derived from Market Monitor Readings

4Pct Sentiment:

“4Pct” shows the money flow direction and is useful to assess swing risk size. The sentiment for the “4Pct” metric is determined based on the number of stocks that experienced significant price changes on a given day. Depending on these counts, sentiment is classified as follows:

  • Extreme Bullish: If 4Pct Up is above 1000.
  • Extreme Bearish: If 4Pct Down is above 1000.
  • Very Bullish: If 4Pct Up is above 300.
  • Very Bearish: If 4Pct Down is above 300.
  • Bullish: If the difference between 4Pct Up and 4Pct Down is above 20.
  • Bearish: If the difference between 4Pct Down and 4Pct Up is above 20.
  • Neutral: Otherwise.

T2108 50 SMA Sentiment:

“T2108 50 SMA” is the market trend indicator and is useful to determine the swing direction. The sentiment for the “T2108 50 SMA” metric is calculated based on the percentage of stocks trading above their 50-day Simple Moving Average (SMA), trailing 5-day average T2108 50 SMA, and predefined thresholds. Sentiment classifications are as follows:

  • Bullish – Caution: If T2108 50 SMA is above 72 and T2108 50 SMA is above its trailing 5-day average.
  • Bearish – Overbought: If T2108 50 SMA is above 72 and T2108 50 SMA is below its trailing 5-day average.

  • Bearish: Includes “Bearish – Overbought,” “Bearish – Extreme Caution,” and “Bearish.”
  • Neutral: Otherwise.

20 Pct Wk Sentiment:

“20 Pct Wk” metric is useful when detecting short term reversal. The sentiment for the metric is determined based on the number of stocks that experienced significant price changes over the 5 trading day period. Depending on these counts, sentiment is classified as follows:

  • Bearish – Overbought: If 20 Pct Up Wk is above 150 and below its trailing 5-day average.
  • Bullish – Oversold: If 20 Pct Down Wk is above 150 and below its trailing 5-day average.
  • Bullish – Extreme Caution: If 20 Pct Up Wk is above 150 and above its trailing 5-day average.
  • Bearish – Extreme Caution: If 20 Pct Down Wk is above 150 and above its trailing 5-day average.
  • Bullish: If 20 Pct Up Wk is above 20 Pct Down Wk and above its trailing 5-day average while 20 Pct Down Wk is below its trailing 5-day average.
  • Bullish-Caution: If 20 Pct Up Wk is above 20 Pct Down Wk but below its trailing 5-day average while 20 Pct Down Wk is above its trailing 5-day average.
  • Bearish: If 20 Pct Up Wk is below 20 Pct Down Wk and below its trailing 5-day average while 20 Pct Down Wk is above its trailing 5-day average.
  • Bearish-Caution: If 20 Pct Up Wk is above 20 Pct Down Wk and above its trailing 5-day average while 20 Pct Down Wk is below its trailing 5-day average.
  • Neutral: Otherwise.
